|  | S.Eligio The construction of this church, which was originally connected to a hospital, was made possible by a donation from Charles I of Anjou who put a large plot of land, near Piazza Mercato, at the disposal of a Confraternity of Neapolitan and French laymen.
It is therefore said that this place of worship was the first to be built in the city by the continue thanks to the financial contributions made by the King, local craftsmen and merchants, and three noblemen.
The name Sant'Eligio, to whom the church was dedicated, was chosen at random from the three patron saints of the brotherhood.

|  | S.Domenico Maggiore This ranks among the finest Gothic churches in the city.
Its construction was ordered by Charles, Duke of Calabria, who having been taken prisoner by Ruggero di Lauria, vowed to have a church erected as soon as he was released.
It was built between 1283 and 1324 and had already been dedicated to St. Michael the archangel when it was conceded to Dominican monks who requested and obtained the change of title.
The church of San Domenico Maggiore, with his adjoining monastery, was, for years one of the city's main cultural centers, the seat of the University of Naples, and a school for the teaching of canon law.

|  | Archaeological National Museum The National Archaelogical Museum of Naples can be considered one of the most important cultural centres in the world in terms of the quantity and quality of Greek and Roman relics it contains.
The museum building was constructed in 1585, on the hill of Santa Teresa, then a solitary spot but now surrounded by the chaotic traffic of the city centre.
The building was originally a Cavalry Barracks, built by order of Don Pedro Giron, Duke of Ossuna, viceroy of Naples; was later used as a University, and was finally turned into a museum under Charles of Bourbon.

|  | Gulf of Naples In Naples is all quite different. You will already realize it on the road at the city. The roadside resembles a wild rubbish dump. During the cities in the north of Italy are so clean as the German cities would gladly be meanwhile this is not so relevant in the south.
