Savelli

Savelli Religious

The name Savelli belongs to an ancient traditional family that gave two Popes to the Church, Honorius III and Honorius IV. In the XVIII century, with the death of Giulio Savelli, the main branch of the family became extinct. Most probably Lorenzo and Giulio Savelli descended from the collateral lines of the family. Lorenzo continued and developed his grandfather's trade started in 1898, over a century ago. In 1900, in expectation of the Jubilee, Lorenzo expanded the business by the courtyard of Santa Marta within the Vatican City. In 1929, with the Lateran Treaty, the small family business moved to Rusticucci Square. Then the grandson Lorenzo set up the present store in St. Peter Square in Rome. Established over a century ago, the Savelli firm has became the leader of religious items. Since then the passion and the care for this activity has been handed down from father to son. The wide variety of the articles is constantly selected with care. The enthusiasm coupled to the passion for this traditional business came true with the opening of a new trading, the gallery still situated in St. Peter Square. In the gallery you could admire the traditional Mosaics of the Vatican School. The Mosaics are on sale and might also be ordered. The Mosaics Savelli collection has got the great merit to preserve the extinction of this ancient technique. Visiting the Savelli store means to give homage to the creativity of the Roman Art. The sales manager and all the staff guarantee to fulfil every single one customer needs. Actually just close to the shop you would find a lovely refreshment bar. In the end the Italian President of Republic conferred to the Savelli firm an honour plate for his high quality.
