1965-1975 From the first products in lead to the use of plastic materials
Carlo Fogliati founded Coes - Compagnia Edil Sanitaria Spa - in October 1965 with the purpose of offering technological and innovative solutions to the numerous problems of civil and industrial plant engineering.
In the beginning, the company's core business was concentrated on the production of plumbing accessories: stirrups, brackets and traps in lead.
In 1975 it was decided to replace lead with plastic materials, embarking on a new, strategic tack for the future growth of the company and the development of new products. Production of the first traps in polyethylene was started that same year.
1975-1985 The diversification strategy
Plastic polymer research was the critical factor for the company's success during these years. In 1978 the strategic decision to diversify culminated in the start of Coestilen, a complete programme of pipes and fittings in high-density polyethylene for civil and industrial drains.
The Coestene product line was added the same year. It is a programme of pipes for pressure system, for the supply of drinking water and gas, fire-fighting systems and industrial water pipes.
1985-1995 The first global solution for water heating and sanitary plant engineering and the Total Quality objective
While the entire production was being taken from Fano and Marostica and centralised in the Pioltello (MI) factories, the group's current industrial site, two new product lines were introduced: Coestherm, a complete programme of pipes and fittings in Random polypropylene for feeding hot and cold water to the heating and sanitary systems; and Coesprene, a complete programme of pipes and fittings in self-extinguishing polypropylene with coupling joints for drainage inside civil and industrial buildings.
With the introduction of the two new product lines, Coes was the first Italian company to offer the market "the first global solution for water heating and sanitary plant engineering".
The opening of new markets let the company in a short time to take over a leadership position in Italy and Europe.
In 1990, consistently with its technical-strategic course aimed at attaining qualitative product and industrial process excellence, the go-ahead was given to the "Total Quality Programme". This is how the Research & Development division, the professional training school and Hidron P90, the first civil drainage simulation plant in existence in Italy, came into being.
ISO 9002 certification on the quality of the corporate systems was also obtained in 1994.
1995-today Completion of the product mix and entrance into the New Economy
Two new product lines were introduced in 1996: Coesklima, a complete programme of composite multilayer pipes and mechanical and Pressfitting fittings for sanitary and heating systems; and Coesidra, the sanitary range made up of a programme of external and built-in flushing tanks and built-in traps for all application needs.
In the new millennium, the company's development and growth plans take into account the evolved needs of the market and the coming onto the competitive scene of new communications models that find their nerve centre in the Internet.
Coes, while keeping the speed and versatility that has always distinguished it, is ready to place the new computer technologies at the service of its customers, with whom the strategic goal remains to be the building of a strong and long-lasting partnership for the creation of value.
